Mothering Sunday Flowers

Mothering Sunday all stemmed from children & now adults being given the chance to really appreciate their Mothers and all they do for us throughout the year.

From the moment they give birth to us, they feed us, they care for us when we are sick, they teach us, they raise us and generally look after us. So with all of these things a Mother does, this day allows you to thank her and show her how much you care! and like any other celebration that’s why they have their own special celebration called Mothers day!

To give you some background Mother’s Day used to be celebrated by attending church and writing heartfelt letters to our Mothers. Over time we started presenting our loveable mums with cards, presents, flower bouquets, floral designed baskets and cakes, and now this is part of the annual tradition.

The History behind it all we have Anna Jarvis to thank for the modern Mother’s Day celebrations, as she started a letter writing campaign to recognise a Mother’s Day. The caring daughter wanted to do something special to honor her deceased Mother. In 1914, US Congress granted her wish.

We bet you didn't’t know that Mothering Sunday/Mother’s Day has other names attributed to the day? You can celebrate Refreshment Sunday, Mid-Lent Sunday, Simnel Sunday, Rose Sunday and, our favorite, Pudding Pie Sunday.

Did you know that Mother’s Day even beats Valentine’s Day for the number of  Floral bouquets bought as the number of orders placed rises by 40% around Mothering Sunday!

More people purchase fresh flowers or plants on Mother’s Day than any other holiday, except Christmas. It reportedly accounts for 1/4 of all flowers and plant sales. While flowers are unsurprisingly the top choice of gift it might shock you to learn that this year there is expected to be a 60% rise in the number of bouquets sent to mums. Daffodils are the usual choice of flower but that doesn't’t mean you can’t look for something different to stand out.

.It all started from hundreds of years ago a tradition and now involves many Bouquets and Gifts.  Mother’s Day is a celebration of motherhood and the woman who gave you life and raised you. Make this year’s Mother’s Day extra special, keep tradition going by celebrating with your mum and spoiling her rotten!
Why not pick your mum’s favorite blooms or look at long-lasting plants instead of a bouquet?

The Spring is here and the flowers such as Daffodils,Tulips, Hydrangeas, Sunflower, Calla lily & Iris are just a few flower stems currently in season! Why not order a special Mother day Bouquet or a Hat Box with a gorgeous flower display in for your mum & not only does she get to enjoy the flower display and not have to do anything with it she has a keepsake once the flowers are past their best!
